VON FREEMAN, natural de Chicago y uno de los grandes saxos tenores de Jazz, pertenece a una familia con gran tradición musical, como sus hermanos George (guitarrista) y Bruz (batería) o su hijo Chico (saxo). Este CD, titulado “Live at the Dakota”, se grabó en directo en el Club “The Dakota Bar & Grill” de Saint Paul, Minneapolis, entre los días 30 de Abril y 1 de Mayo de 1996, aunque no fue editado hasta el año 2001. Le acompañan los músicos BOBBY PETERSON (piano), TERRY BURNS (bajo) y PHIL HEY (batería), interpretando temas de DIXON, SHORTER, STRAYHORNE o DUKE ELLINGTON, al que homenajean en el clásico “Caravan”.
